My story

Who is that in the mirror?

Hi, I'm Karin, founder of She's Not Crazy. I thought I was losing it. I wasn't. I was pushing 40 and nobody told me what was coming.

I'm 42, a mom of five, and I live in Hawaii. I'm not a doctor. I'm not an influencer. I'm a regular mom who got blindsided.

It started small

I used to sleep like a baby. Then around 39, I didn't. I'd go to bed wiped out and wake up at 3am staring at the ceiling while my husband snored next to me. Exhausted all day. Wide awake all night. Make it make sense.

I was snappy. Overstimulated by everything. One morning I looked in the mirror and thought, who is this girl looking back at me? And my brain started asking some wild questions:

  • Why did I just walk into the pantry?
  • Why did I snap about a fork?
  • Why do I look so old all of a sudden?
  • Am I turning into my mom?
  • Will my kids remember me as the grumpy mom?
  • Is my husband going to leave me for someone younger and more fun?
  • Perimenopause? I'm way too young for that. Right?

I was fumbling over my own kids' names. I have a huge heart and I take care of everybody. And I was scared I'd end up old, mean and alone.

I wasn't crazy. I was perimenopausal. Big difference.

So I went looking

I knew something was off. So I went looking for help. I tried the 14 in 1 pills. I tried scrolling until I got sleepy (spoiler, never). And everything I found felt general. Made for men. Made for "everybody." Nothing for my perimenopausal body. Just words I had to google and advice that made me feel worse.

Just some of the stuff I tried.

What helped most was talking to other women. Real ones. Every time I said "is this just me?" someone said "oh, absolutely not." So many of them swore by magnesium glycinate at night. So I tried it. For real, every night.

My first month

Night one, I felt calmer going to bed. Week one, I still woke up at 3am a couple times, but I fell right back asleep, which was new. Weeks 2 to 4? New me, who dis. Sleeping like a baby, waking up rested, not snapping at everyone.

That's my experience, not a promise. In studies, magnesium helped some people sleep a little better and some not at all. I own this company, so take that into account. Bodies are different, which is exactly why there's a 90 day money back guarantee.

Why this brand exists

So I started a brand around the one thing that helped me. Just magnesium glycinate, a real amount, every night. And I built a club so no woman has to google this stuff alone at 3am.

SLEEP is first. Products for strength, digestion, beauty and more are coming. Same rules every time: tell you exactly what's in it, never promise miracles, never talk down to you.

This chapter is still yours. I just want to make it a little easier.
